Bellabox: August 2012

Hey all!

One of the reasons I decided to do this blog was so I could properly review the sample box's I receive.

The first to arrive this month is Bellabox.

1. Luk Beautiford Lip Nourish (full size)

3g   RRP $24.95

I got the colour/flavour Cinnamon and Mandarin. This is a lovely sheer, nourishing lip balm. I really like the packaging, it is simple and clean (though I'm sure it would get dirty fast!). In the tube the colour looks really dark and not at all something I would wear, but on the skin it is very sheer. It would also double up nicely as a cheek tint. The smell is a bit overpowering for me, but I'm not a fan of cinnamon unless it is in my baking. It's not unpleasant, just quite strong.

2. Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner (45g sample)

I am so excited to receive this product! I have been wanting to try it for a while and I think I will have to purchase it now. I am in love with Lush products! I'm planning on doing a post on them soon. Ro's Argan body conditioner contains argan oil (commonly referred to as moroccan oil), cocoa butter, capuaçu butter, brazil nut oil, almond oil and shea butter. When first applied this has quite a strong scent that gradually fades to a really pretty floral smell. It's is incredibly moisturising, which I find great because I have really dry skin, especially in winter. This product is going straight onto my Lush wish list.

3. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion (sample size 29ml)

354ml RRP $12.99

On it's own this is a nice light moisturiser. Next to Lush it is a bit underwhelming. It is unscented, which is great if you want to feature a nice perfume rather than have it compete with your body products. I think it would be a good choice for a summer moisturiser as it feels quite fresh on the skin. It is also really affordable, which is always a bonus for me.

4. EmerginC Skincare (sample size 2x 3ml)

Kombucha Cleanser 120ml RRP $44

Phytocell Cream 50ml RRP $105

I haven't tried these products yet, but I am very interested to see what they are like. I received some serum capsules by EmergenC in another sample box and absolutely loved them! Unfortunately they are out of my price range. Maybe when I'm working and earning the big bucks!

I will have to update after I have tried them.

EDIT - Both products have a pleasant smell. The cleanser does a good job, the moisturiser is slightly oily, but it means a little goes a long way. I got three uses out of each sample. I have started to break out a little since trying them. This could be a good sign, my skin tends to do that when I try new products, as they bring up everything. I think I would have to continue using this product to get the best effect. But at that price, I'll settle with something a little cheaper.

5. USPA Organic Wild Thyme Foot Pumice (sample size 30ml)

200ml RRP $39

I haven't yet tried this product either. I'm keen to give this a go and get my feet ready for the warmer weather.

EDIT - I tried this in the bath the other night and my feet felt amaze-balls the next day. Awesome product, strongly recommended.

6. Bourjois Smokey Pencil (full size)

RRP $20

I got colour #72 dark purple. I am actually pretty keen to try this. I have grey eyes and I think the purple might look nice. This is a normal pencil consistency, not as soft as some of the Khol eyeliners. It doesn't have much staying power though. The pencil has a brush on the other side to smudge and soften the line.

8. Phytocare daily C

Each month bellabox include an extra item, usually food or drink based. This month they included a vitamin C supplement drink. I think I might save these for the next time Damian or myself are feeling under the weather.

So that's it.

For those that have just read this and have no idea what bellabox is, it is a beauty sample subscription. for $15 a month you receive a box with 5+ samples. Usually there is at least one full sized product. I have always found them to be value for money.
